It’s Rodeo Time!

Go-Texan Day!

Henry’s been wearing his boots all week long, turning into a regular little Texas cowpoke! Lately we have been busy fulfilling some of our New Years’ resolutions, and abandoning some as well. I’ve fallen off the Weight Watcher’s and yoga wagon but am trying to get back on this week. Tonight I even made English Muffin Bread from the WW cookbook. It is really good and really tastes just like an English muffin. Next I’m trying yogurt biscuits.

As part of our resolutions, we’ve been having family night every Friday and going out to a restaurant together. It has been great and we’ve discovered all the places that serve food we love AND are kid-friendly. Or at least Henry friendly. He’s a lot more chilled out right now so we can probably take him more places than we’ll be able to in a few months. So far we’ve been to Shiva for Indian food, Tony’s, El Rey, Star Pizza, Thai Spice, and this weekend we went to Nippon for some sushi, yum! So, Henry’s added tortillas, naan, riata, sticky rice, edamame and green tea icecream to his repertoire. He’s still not too keen on “real” peas. Still prefers the liquid variety.

Also as part of our new habits we eat at the table instead of in front of the TV, we cook our meals instead of getting take-out so often, and we are getting a share every week from the Central City Co-op. It has really changed the way we eat. Our diet at home is less concentrated on carbs and cheese (and take-out) and is now almost 80% organic vegetables! I’ve cooked things I’ve never thought of cooking before including beet greens, Swish chard, and collard greens. Anyway, just thought I’d drop a line on the main things that have been on my mind of late, food and Henry as always!

That there is the cutest little cowboy west of the Mississippi!! On another note, you should get a Thai cookbook becuase they make the most delicious food, and most of it is full of veggies. Yum
